5S Awareness session for Vidullanka PLC
The 5S Awareness session for Vidullanka PLC, organized by the JASTECA Institute of Management, took place on 11th October 2024 at the Sasakawa Centre, Colombo 3. This session aimed to enhance participants' understanding of the 5S methodology—Seiri (Sort), Seiton (Set in order), Seiso (Shine), Seiketsu (Standardize), and Shitsuke (Sustain). Facilitated by Mr. Kanishka Perera, the session covered key principles and practical applications of 5S in the workplace to improve efficiency and productivity. Attendees engaged in interactive discussions and activities that emphasized the importance of maintaining an organized and efficient work environment.

Farewell Dinner to His Excellency Mizukoshi Hideaki
His Excellency MIZUKOSHI Hideaki, Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka, served as a key figure in strengthening diplomatic relations between Japan and Sri Lanka. During his tenure, he played an important role in fostering economic, cultural, and political cooperation between the two nations. Ambassador Mizukoshi maintained a strong relationship with the Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA), actively supporting its initiatives in promoting Japanese management practices and cultural exchanges in Sri Lanka. His close collaboration with JASTECA helped strengthen ties between the two countries. On October 2nd, 2024, JASTECA hosted a farewell dinner to honor his contributions and friendship.

Kavishi is addressing the 5th World Children's Peace Summit in Tokyo
Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA) proudly extended its support to Ms. Kavishi Yashodhara Diwananda, an inspiring young representative from Sri Lanka, who participated in the prestigious 5th World Children Peace Summit held in Tokyo on 20th August 2024. She is the only representative from entire South Asia, representing Bandaranayake Central College, Veyangoda, Sri Lanka.
This international event brings together youth from across the globe to foster dialogue, understanding, and promote peace.
JASTECA is proud and honour of accepting the responsibility of taking care of part of her expenditure during stay in Japan as the first sustainable project we launched under the new JASTECA Executive Committee and under the presidency of Mr. Mangala Samarajeewa.
JASTECA's contribution exemplifies our ongoing commitment to nurturing young leaders and encouraging cultural exchange. We believe that by empowering our youth, we contribute to a more harmonious and peaceful future.

38th Annual General Meeting
The 38th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Japan Sri Lanka Technical & Cultural Association (JASTECA), was successfully held on the 12th of August 2024. The chief guest was H.E. Mr. Mizukoshi Hideaki Ambassador for Japan in Sri Lanka and Patron of JASTECA. This gathering served as a vital platform for reflecting on the past year's achievements and setting future goals to further strengthen the technical and cultural ties between Japan and Sri Lanka. During the AGM, a new Executive Committee was elected to lead the association forward. The new committee, composed of dedicated and dynamic members, will guide the association in its mission to foster collaboration, innovation, and cultural exchange. We express our sincere gratitude to all those who attended the AGM and contributed to the discussions. The elected committee is committed to building on the association's strong foundations, driving forward initiatives that benefit both countries.

5S, Lean Manufacturing, TPS & Factory Automation Training Program & Study Tour in Thailand (Exclusive program for Sri Lanka)
The 5S, Lean Manufacturing, TPS, and Factory Automation study tour and seminar concluded on June 2, 2024, marking a resounding success. Out of a highly competitive pool of applicants, 16 individuals successfully participated in the program.
This comprehensive 7-day program, from 22nd May to 2nd June, included a blend of classroom sessions and five factory visits to observe advanced systems for manufacturing tools, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, TPS, and factory automation. The main objective was to create a robust platform for cooperation with Thai companies, simultaneously equipping the participants with practical knowledge.
The participants had the opportunity to visit the following factories during the tour:

The pre-departure briefing for the participants of the 5S, Lean Manufacturing, TPS, and Factory Automation (Seminar & Study Tour) in Thailand # BATCH 2 took place on Thursday, May 16, 2024, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Sasakawa Center, Colombo 3. The session provided valuable information for the participants, offering comprehensive details about the program. We hope the participants have a wonderful and enriching study experience in Thailand, and that they gain valuable knowledge and capabilities to bring back home.
Customized JASTECA Management Development Program
JASTECA was delighted to organize a five-day customized development program for Sri Lanka Telecom PLC. The program consisted of two parts, where 10 participants were trained both locally and overseas. The local training was held for two days, covering a wide range of topics including Understanding the characteristics of Japanese management in successful cooperations & Best Practices, Sustainable practices & Leadership.
The overseas training was conducted in Thailand from December 18–22, 2023, facilitated by our fellow alumni association, ABK AOTS Thailand. The participants had the opportunity to visit the following factories:

JASTECA organized a four-day training program for Sundaram Lanka Tyres Ltd. on 5S audit-gap analysis (JASTECA 5S audit criteria) Ms. Sakunthala Goonetilleke facilitated the training. The program covered a wide range of topics, such as how to sustain the 5S implementation, advance 5S application in manufacturing companies, discussion and feedback on GAP Audit findings, and a master plan for 5S implementation and continuity.

The 5S, Lean Manufacturing, TPS, and Factory Automation Study Tour was a huge success, concluding on November 11, 2023. 15 applicants succeeded from a demanding pool of applications for the program.
This comprehensive 5-day program, from 6th to 11th November, included a blend of classroom sessions and five factory visits to observe advanced systems for manufacturing tools, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, TPS, and factory automation. Madam Kiyoko Ogawa Scholarship Awarding Ceremony 2023 The 23rd Madam Kiyoko Ogawa Scholarship Awarding Ceremony was held successfully on Sunday the 17th of September, at Kosgahakanda Maha Vidyalaya, Deraniyagala.
The occasion was graced by the presence of; 1. President of JASTECA, Mr. Chandana Amaratunga, 2. Chairman of Madam Kiyoko Ogawa Scholarship Subcommittee, Mr. Parakrama B. Jayatissa, 3. First Secretary (Financial Attaché) of the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka, Mr. Takafumi Nakanishi. And many distinguished invitees of JASTECA and Regional / Zonal Education sectors. Organized by JASTECA for the 23rd occasion with the kind sponsorship by Madam Kiyoko Ogawa of Japan, the scholarships were awarded to 25 students from 11 schools in Deraniyagala Education Territory, in order to pursue their Advanced Level studies despite their financial challenges. In 2023, the 23rd scholarship awarding ceremony will be held on Sunday the 17th of September 2023 in Daraniyagala. At the scholarship awarding ceremony, we distribute hampers including items such as Stationery, Exercise Books, Dress Materials, School Bags, Dictionaries, Dry Rations such as Rice, Tea, Sugar, Milk Powder, Vitamins etc. Cash donations are also accepted from donors.

We are delighted to announce the "Madam Kiyoko Ogawa Scholarship" Program for the year 2023, organized by JASTECA, to provide financial aid for the deserving school-going children in Deraniyagala area. This invaluable program offers scholarships for students with great Ordinary Level results, achieved in the face of remarkable challenges, to assist in their education at Advanced Level classes.
Transforming Challenges into Opportunities
The seminar, titled "Transforming Challenges into Opportunities", organized by JASTECA Institute of Management, wrapped up as a fruitful knowledge sharing session at Galadari Hotel on the 21st of June 2023. The seminar was aimed at developing skills and competencies through a real-life case study on how a company showcasing stellar performance during a challenging period.The programme was facilitated by Mr. Mahinda Saranapala, a life member & a past president of JASTECA, Managing Director of Kelani Cables PLC. Mr. Saranapala also plays a pivotal role in heading many associations. It was truly a knowledge sharing session for those who had the keen interest in leveling up their own organization or the organization they work for. The seminar was graced by the participation of over 45 representatives from 20 leading organizations in Sri Lankan corporate sector.

The seminar, titled LEADERSHIP: an Art of Possibility, organized by JASTECA Institute of Management, wrapped up as a tremendous success, at Galadari Hotel on the 18th May 2023.
The seminar was aimed at developing leadership skills of the corporate sector managers.
As a leader in the corporate & Japanese management training sector, we believe that it is an important duty to nurture the prospective leaders to lead the corporate world into a promising level, to ensure the growth of our Nation.
The programme was facilitated by Dr. Sarath Buddhadasa , a life member of JASTECA. Being a corporate trainer in local & international organizations, with over thirty-five years of experience, Dr. Buddadhasa is a business consultant, academic adviser, researcher and a writer.
The Program assisted those who were ready to level up their leadership role by gaining exposure to a wide range of up-to-date knowledge and practical tools.
The seminar was graced by the participation of over 70 representatives from 23 leading organizations.

JASTECA Awards 2019
The Annual JASTECA Awards 2019 Ceremony was held for the 24th Consecutive year on 22nd August 2020 at Grand Ballroom of Hotel Galadari, under the chairmanship of Mr. Mangala Samarajeewa.
The Awards Ceremony was held adhering to the health department rules with limited number of participants.
The Ceremony held under the patronage of Chief guest Mr. Toshihiro Kitamura – Minister /Deputy Head of Mission - Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka.
Large number of companies took part of this competition and the winners were recognized in the categories of Large, Medium and small Categories of the Taiki Akimoto 5S competition and Nagaaki Yamamoto Kaizen Competition, Ian Dias Abeysinghe Memorial CSR Sustainability Awards Scheme.
The Awards Ceremony was graced by other members of Embassy of Japan and Invitees.
