President's Message

Mangala Samarajeewa
President
I am honored to address you as the 16 th President of the Japan-Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA), an organization deeply rooted in fostering sustainable partnerships, cultural exchange, and technological cooperation between Japan and Sri Lanka. As the alumni association of the Association of Overseas Technical and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), our association stands on a proud tradition of global collaboration that AOTS has cultivated for decades.

Since its establishment in 1959, AOTS has been dedicated to transferring Japan’s expertise in industrial technology and management to partner countries around the world. Through its programs, AOTS has provided opportunities for thousands of participants to gain specialized knowledge, enhance their technical skills, and return home equipped to contribute meaningfully to their respective industries and communities.

Sri Lanka has been one of the key beneficiaries of AOTS’s initiatives, with countless Sri Lankan professionals traveling to Japan to gain expertise in areas such as engineering, production management, Human Resource Management, IT, environmental sustainability, and more. These alumni have returned with newfound skills, driving innovation, growth, and development within Sri Lanka’s industries. Many of these professionals have become leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers, contributing to the socio-economic progress of our nation.
