It is with this rich legacy of empowerment that our alumni association was founded in 1984.
The Japan-Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association serves not only as a gathering point
for those who have benefited from AOTS programs but also as an active force in continuing
the work of bridging our two nations through technical cooperation, cultural exchange, and
sustainable partnerships.
Our association remains firmly committed to the core mission of AOTS, which is to build and
nurture sustainable international partnerships through technical cooperation, education, and
cultural exchange. However, our role goes beyond simply maintaining relationships. We aim
to continually evolve, adapt to changing global needs, and lead the way in promoting cross-
cultural collaboration and innovation.
Our mission is multi-faceted, and it is rooted in four key pillars:
- 1. Technical Collaboration
- We strive to build upon the foundation laid by AOTS by continuing to promote the exchange of technical expertise between Japan and Sri Lanka and also with AOTS Almini Socities in South Asia. This includes organizing training programs, workshops, and seminars that help our alumni stay updated on the latest technological advancements and management practices in Japan. Our goal is to support Sri Lankan industries by equipping professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to remain competitive in an increasingly globalized market.
- 2. Cultural Exchange
- The bonds between Japan and Sri Lanka are not just forged through technical and industrial collaboration, but also through our shared appreciation of culture. Our association plays a critical role in promoting cultural exchange programs that allow the people of both nations to experience each other’s traditions, values, and arts. By fostering a deeper understanding of our cultural heritages, we help to build mutual respect and cooperation.
- 3. Sustainable Development
- Sustainability has become a critical focus of our work. As an extension of AOTS’s efforts to promote sustainable development, our association is committed to addressing some of the most pressing global challenges, including environmental sustainability, climate change, and resource conservation. We actively seek partnerships with both Japanese and Sri Lankan organizations as well as other regional almini socities that focus on sustainable practices, with the goal of contributing to a greener and more equitable future.
- 4. Alumni Engagement and Empowerment
- Our alumni are the heart and soul of our association. They represent a wealth of knowledge, experience, and expertise, and it is our mission to empower them to continue their work in building strong, sustainable, and innovative partnerships between Japan and Sri Lanka. We provide platforms for our alumni to share their experiences, collaborate on projects, and engage in lifelong learning.
